Blue Ant Studios wraps production on season 3 of the English-speaking version of Old Enough and expands partnership with Nippon TV for future unscripted development and production.
TORONTO, ON – February 23, 2026 – Blue Ant Studios is pleased to announce that season 3 of the Canadian adaptation of Nippon TV format Old Enough! (6 x 30) has wrapped principal photography and is now in post-production. With filming complete, the new season of the TVOkids Original will bring another round of heart-warming, confidence-building, smile-inducing adventures to audiences in Fall 2026.
Old Enough! is an English language production of Nippon TV’s hit original format of the same name. The series follows Canadian children, ages three to six, as they take on real-world adventures, discovering independence, wonder, and everyday challenges. Each episode highlights how families encourage autonomy, with a safety team providing guidance and support every step of the way.
Seasons 1 and 2 of the Canadian adaptation of Old Enough! will air on prime time in April in Japan on CS Nippon, a leading satellite broadcaster and subsidiary of Nippon TV Holdings.
Blue Ant Studios and Nippon TV’s successful collaboration around Old Enough! has now sparked a larger strategic partnership between the two companies. This will entail working on development and production of unscripted formats coming out of Nippon TV’s Gyokuro Studio, for the North American market.
Today, under this new collaboration, the companies are pleased to unveil Majority Rules, a new social strategy experiment that challenges the societal paradigms of majority/minority – everything from living conditions to how to perform in challenges and who stays in the game is decided by a popular vote. Participants live together in an isolated environment with limited amenities. They must cooperate to improve their collective experience – and potentially their financial gain. Will going with the crowd lead you down a wrong or foolish path, or will it yield you riches? When power belongs to everyone through a vote, who actually wins?
Blue Ant Studios and Nippon TV are soft launching the format at London Screenings and partnering to bring it to the North American market.

“We cannot wait for families across the country to see more extraordinary stories and the joy of watching children step into their growing self-reliance in season 3 of Old Enough!,” said Matt Hornburg, Co-President, Blue Ant Studios. “We value the commitment our partners at TVO have made to this series and we’re equally thrilled to build on our partnership with Nippon TV by announcing Majority Rules. This collaboration allows us to bring a compelling new format to North America and, ultimately, to audiences worldwide,” adds Hornburg.
“This marks a historic milestone for the Canadian adaptation of Old Enough!, one of Nippon TV’s most treasured and beloved formats, as it reaches an impressive third season. It is even more meaningful for our partnership with Blue Ant Studios to successfully ‘re-import’ their outstanding Canadian adaptation back into Japan for CS Nippon, bringing it to audiences who have loved Nippon TV’s Old Enough! for over 30 years,” said Tom Miyauchi, Head of Nippon TV LA Business Office. “Our partnership with Blue Ant Studios has evolved into a dynamic creative alliance, and we have great expectations for future collaborations through Gyokuro Studio. Their trust in our creative vision has been invaluable and we are confident that our latest format, Majority Rules, will prove to be a groundbreaking addition to the global marketplace.”
Executive Producers the Canadian adaptation Old Enough! for Blue Ant Studios are Matt Hornburg, Mark Bishop and Donna Luke. Carly Spencer serves as Series Producer and Eva Filomena serves as Senior Producer. Superbeast(6 x 60’) Producer: WildBear Entertainment International Rights: Blue Ant Rights Through a classic play-of-the-day format, this fun and entertaining series captures nature at its reddest, rawest, most powerful, most intelligent, and fastest. Each episode delivers an ascending list of the top tier wildlife abilities in a specific category, focusing on their extraordinary skills. The list will always be curated for surprise and revelation, whether that’s the fastest, deadliest, sneakiest, trickiest. So while the cheetah is technically the quickest thing on land, a gaboon viper with a strike so fast it can’t be seen may just leave the cheetah spinning its wheels in second place. Human sport comparisons are employed to keep everything real and relatable, giving an understandable and memorable scale to the world’s Superbeasts.
Wild Germany(2 x 60’) Producer: Doclights Deep in the heart of northern Germany lies a surprising wilderness. Wild Germany reveals an intimate portrait of an ancient cultural landscape, where forests, wetlands and mountains shelter an abundance of life. Elusive wildcats prowl the undergrowth, lynxes and wolves return to reclaim their ancestral range, beavers engineer entire ecosystems along natural floodplains, while shy mouflons roam the open land. Along riverbanks, nutrias bask in the sun and dragonflies hunt. It is a realm with more than 200 bird species—from elegant swifts to cranes, and colorful mallards to shimmering bee-eaters. In the south of the region rises Germany’s northernmost mountain range: the Harz. Known for its dramatic weather, snowstorms in winter and rain-soaked forests in summer. Here, majestic red deer roar in the valleys, while the lynx – once extinct in Germany – has made a remarkable comeback. Through these forests, rivers, plains and mountains run a common thread: resilience.

TORONTO, ON – February 4, 2026 — Blue Ant Media today announced a strategic repositioning of Blue Ant Studios, introducing a genre-based operating model, streamlined studio branding, and a strengthened senior leadership team designed to accelerate growth across development, production, and global content monetization.
The changes follow Blue Ant’s recently completed acquisition of Thunderbird Entertainment and its reverse takeover of Boat Rocker Media, which significantly expanded the company’s size and scope, adding new capabilities, talent and IP.
A Genre-Based Model for Blue Ant Studios
Blue Ant Studios will continue to be led by Co-Presidents Mark Bishop and Matt Hornburg, with Hornburg overseeing content strategy, development, and production, and Bishop leading content monetization, rights, and commercial strategy. This structure aligns creative leadership and commercial execution more closely across the studio ecosystem.
Under the new structure, Blue Ant Studios will be organized around genre-based centres of expertise, reflecting how content is developed, financed, and produced in the global market.
Kids, Family & YA will be led by Jennifer Twiner McCarron, President, reporting to Hornburg. McCarron’s portfolio will encompass scripted, animation, and youth-focused content. Atomic Cartoons and Jam Filled Entertainment will continue to operate under their established brands within this pillar.
McCarron’s direct reports will include Joel Bradley, President, Atomic, Lori McIndoe, President, Jam Filled, Tori Coulthart, EVP, Production, Jam Filled, and Lindsay MacAdam will continue to lead and grow the scripted business on behalf of Blue Ant.
Blue Ant Studios’ Unscripted division will combine the company’s factual and lifestyle expertise into a single, unified group, creating a larger and more formidable unscripted centre of expertise. The consolidated division is designed to provide a more streamlined approach to engaging with buyers, financing content, and supporting long-running and returning series across factual, lifestyle, and documentary programming.
The Unscripted team will be led by Cathie James, who has taken on an expanded role as Executive Vice President, Content, alongside Lesia Capone, who is growing her remit as Executive Vice President, Production. Both will report to Hornburg.
As part of these changes, the Great Pacific Media brand and ProperTV brand will sunset. Additionally, Great Pacific CEO David Way will be leaving the organization to take on advisory and consulting work, drawing on more than 30 years of experience leading creative businesses.
Blue Ant Studios’ third stream will be anchored by Insight Productions, with John Brunton continuing on at the helm as CEO, and reporting to Hornburg. Insight will continue to be focused on the premium entertainment work they are known for including large scale franchises and reality competition series.
“This new structure sets Blue Ant Studios up for the next phase of growth,” said Hornburg. “Organizing around genre-based creative leadership allows us to develop and produce more ambitious slates, move more efficiently, and better support creators and partners as we build shows and franchises designed to travel globally.”
Expanded Blue Ant Rights Capabilities
The company also announced an expansion of Blue Ant Rights, the Company’s distribution arm, adding to its capabilities in kids and family sales, licensing, and consumer products across all genres. Joining the Rights team are Richard Goldsmith, EVP, Kids & Family Sales and Brands, and Vienna Downes, Director, Consumer Products & Licensing. Both will report to Bishop.
With the acquisition of Thunderbird, we have added an additional 1100 owned hours to our catalog, bringing us to a total of more than 9000 hours of premium content.
“As the scale and diversity of our portfolio continues to grow, so does the opportunity to expand how we monetize our IP,” added Bishop. “Expanding our rights, licensing, and consumer products capabilities allows us to capture more value from our IP and accelerate commercial growth internationally.”

TORONTO, ON – September 23, 2025 – Blue Ant Studios today unveiled the trailer for The Psychic Swindle (1 x 60 HD), a documentary that reveals how a Montreal-based copywriter swindled victims out of $200 million by pretending to be a legendary psychic. The documentary will premiere in Canada as part of CBC’s The Passionate Eye on Wednesday, October 29 at 9 p.m. (9:30 NT) on CBC and CBC Gem.
The documentary unravels the intricate mail-order psychic scam that duped millions of people worldwide over 20 years. The scam in North America was led by entrepreneur and copywriter, Patrice Runner, who used the name and likeness of legendary French Psychic Maria Duval. Through meticulous investigations, exclusive archive, and intimate interviews, the film exposes how this exploitation of human hopes and fears resulted in one of the largest psychic scams in history, culminating in a global manhunt and a high-profile criminal trial.
“When I first heard about this massive scam and how it involved a Canadian man, I was immediately hooked and knew I wanted to get to the bottom of how victims were targeted and what this all said about the nature of belief and just how much deception we are willing to accept in our lives,” said Rachel Browne, Executive Producer.
“What resonates most for me is how this story exposes our deep human longing for connection, friendship, and even miracles — and how easily that need can be exploited,” said Sarah Gibson, Executive Producer, Director, and Writer.
The Psychic Swindle is based on the article, The Greatest Scam Ever Written, written by Rachel Browne for The Walrus. Executive Producers for Blue Ant Studios are Matthew Hornburg, Mark Bishop, and Donna Luke. Jennifer Harkness, Sarah Gibson, and Rachel Browne serve as Executive Producers for the documentary.
